Blake Edwards went on to make The Pink Panther in 1963, followed shortly by A Shot In The Dark the next year, and then by six more Pink Panther installments over the next 30 years. The success of the Pink Panther films gave Edwards the financial clout to make the films that he envisioned, which is why Edwards has remained one of the most innovative filmmakers in the industry.
